Installation and Activation

If the software has not been activated, you will see an activation prompt each time the program starts. The program can be used in "demo" mode for up to 30 days by clicking "Continue as Demo" on the activation screen.

To remove the 30 day trial limitation, you must enter a Serial Number, Company Name, and Subscription Code, that will be provided to you when you purchase a subscription for using the software.

A combination of the following command line parameters can be used for silent installation:

/SP-

Disables "Do you wish to continue" prompt at the beginning of setup

/SILENT

Installation shows a progress window but requires no input

/VERYSILENT

Install shows no progress window and requires no input

/NORUN

Program will not launch automatically at the end of the installation

Starting Asset Keeper Pro

The Home Screen is the launch pad of Asset Keeper Pro. It shows information about the currently selected file (if any) and provides quick access to recent files or any other files you want to open. It also has the main toolbar and menu for accessing all of Asset Keeper Pro's features.

Data Files and Folders

To select a file for conversion, go to the "File" menu and choose "Open." Then select the prior version Asset Keeper file with an A5 file extension. You will be presented with options for how you want the file to be converted. Read the on screen directions and choose your settings carefully, then click "Convert" to complete the conversion.

Select "Convert Asset Keeper Files" from the "Housekeeping" menu and follow the on screen instructions.

The Default Data Folder is the location where the program will look for your existing data files and it is the folder where new files will be created by default. The folder can be changed in the program's preferences.

Asset Keeper Pro uses a new type of database that stores information in a single file for each client/company that you create. Asset Keeper 2012 and earlier used multiple files for each client/company. Data files can be converted from the old format to the new format individually or by selecting an entire folder.

Custom reports can be created in Asset Keeper Pro by going to the Reports menu and taking the option for Report Writer.

Favorite reports appear at the bottom of the Home screen so you can quickly print the reports that you use most often. To edit the list of favorite reports, choose "Manage Favorite Reports" from the reports menu and select the reports you want to appear in the favorites list.

Personal Property Reports can be printed from Asset Keeper Pro for a number of states. We also offer a Generic report, which can be filed for various other states. The Personal Property Reports option is located off the Reports menu.

To print a prior year report, open Reports, place a check mark next to the desired report, select a year in the "Prior Year Reports" area on the right hand side of the screen, and click one of the "Print", "Preview" or "PDF" buttons.

To print multiple reports, open Reports, place a check mark next to each report you want to print, and clicking one of the "Print", "Preview" or "PDF" buttons.

To save a group of reports for printing as a batch in the future, open Reports, and click the edit button next to the "Batch" drop down box above the list of reports.
